2020/09/15 – WEBINAR: How to Let Go After Being Let Go
What happens when you lose your job? How do you handle the elimination of your role, the meeting you have with your boss and HR, and the information they provide? What are the first couple of things you must do? How do you deal with the combination of shock, grief, anger, confusion, and identity crisis that often accompanies the experience? How do you let go and move on?
Shelley Langille has been through downsizing three times in her career. Each situation was a different experience, and all provided her with personal growth, professional advancement, and valuable life lessons. Having provided clients with education options to meet their career advancement and transition paths for over twenty years in previous roles, Shelley is embarking on a new professional journey herself. After being dismissed in early 2020, she realized a new calling. In the near future, she will be focussing on helping people move on after losing their job, and coaching organizations on how to treat employees as well on the way out as they do on the way in.
With a focus on positivity, encouragement, and humour, this talk is meant to:
- Help those who have been dismissed change the narrative and find their own unique path forward
- Provide advance intelligence to those who have not experienced job loss, but may find themselves in the position in the future
- Encourage organizations to take a meaningful and honest look at their own dismissal practices and how it affects their brand, for good or bad
Come to the conversation with curiosity and we will address how to remove the negative stigma of job loss, bring the conversation out of the dark and into the light, and explore how being let go can be a catalyst for the change you didn’t know you needed or wanted.
